OverviewThis short but sweet tour of The Inca Empire begins in Cusco where you will get to explore the city and the surrounding areas of archaeological interest including visits to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the amphitheatre of Kenko, Tambomachy, Puca Pucara and Koricancha Temple. Your guide will let you in on all the secrets of this amazing area!
The next day you embark on a full tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, starting with Chinchero moving onto Maras and finally Ollantaytambo. This day contains everything you need to experience these fascinating sites steeped in so much history and magic! This evening you will stay in a hotel in the valley itself for a well-deserved rest.
In the morning the tour boards a train to take you from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes where you take a short ride to the world famous Machu Picchu. On top of everyone's bucket list this extraordinary area has a sense of real mystery and magic and is like nowhere else on earth!
After a day exploring this exciting land, you will head back to Cusco for the evening then depart the next day.
Day 1: Arrival - Lima
Upon arrival in Lima, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to your hotel.
Day 2: Lima - Cusco
This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco City where you will be met by your guide and shown to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing city tour of Cusco and the surrounding archaeological sites, including visits to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the amphitheatre of Kenko, Tambomachy, Puca Pucara and Koricancha Temple.
Day 3: Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Incas
Spend part of the day in the town of Chinchero, 35 kilometers northwest of Cuzco. The townsfolk are famous for having preserved traditional Andean weaving techniques. They also set up a market in the town square to sell
handmade crafts from around the region. Nearby is the town of Maras, and you will visit its salt pans where the finest salt in the world is extracted. Next, you will travel to Moray and tour the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built into the top of a hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. The last stop of the day is at Ollantaytambo; an Incan military, religious, and agricultural center located in the highest point on the mountain. From the archaeological site, you can look down upon the town of the same name and see its incredibly narrow streets and canals that have not changed since the Incas constructed them. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. At the end of this visit you will travel to your hotel in the valley itself for the evening.
Day 4: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco
After breakfast, board the train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will be taken by bus to the majestic site of Machu Picchu where a guide will show you around all the major areas of the sight. You will then have some time to explore this incredible lost city in your own time. In the afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes for the train back to Cusco.
Day 5: Departure
Today, transfer to the airport for your internal flight to Lima for your onward travel.

In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
