Peru is a beautiful country and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular landscapes and breathtaking views including the stunning Lake Titicaca. See this huge lake by speed boat - an awesome way to explore this world famous stretch of water. Visit the Island of Taquile in the centre and spend time with the Taquile community as well as the Uros community a little further away, who live on floating islands - really get to know their inspiring and fascinating way of life.
Day 1: Arrival - Lima
Today you will arrive in Lima where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in the city centre.
Day 2: Lima
This morning enjoy a half day city tour of some of the highlights of Lima. This includes a scenic panoramic tour of the most traditional residential areas in the capital - San Isidro and Miraflores districts. In the historic centre you will see important colonial monuments such as the Plaza de Armas, the Plaza San Martin and the spectacular Basilica Cathedral of Lima, this is followed by a guided tour of the San Francisco Monastery. Continue with a visit to the Larco Herrera museum. You then have the afternoon free to relax and explore the city in your own time.
Day 3: Lima - Cusco - Sacred Valley
This morning, travel to the airport for a short flight to Cusco city. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Sacred Valley of the Incas along the Urubamba River. You will spend the day at the town of Chinchero, where the townsfolk are famous for having preserved traditional Andean weaving techniques. Nearby is the town of Maras, and you will visit its salt pans where the finest salt in the world is extracted. Next, you will travel to Moray and tour the enormous circular and semi-circular agricultural terraces built into the top of a hill overlooking the Urubamba Valley and used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. Last stop of the day is at Ollantaytambo; an Incan military, religious, and agricultural center located in the highest point on the mountain. Stay in the Sacred Valley this evening.
Day 4: Sacred Valley
Visit the village of Pisac to see its ruins on the summit of a hill - one of the most important sites in the Sacred Valley. Its terraced fields and urban planning will surprise you - both were very advanced for their time. Then visit the local market,where you can talk with local people, get to known their culture and peruse the products that are unique to the zone.
Day 5: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
Awaiting you today is an unforgettable experience: Machu Picchu! Your adventure starts on board the Expedition train. After your arrival at the city of Aguas Calientes, you will disembark and then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archaeological site, where you embark on a guided tour. After the tour, you have some time to yourself to explore the area and soak in the magic of this place! After a good amount of time at the site, head back to Aguas Calientes where you will spend the night.
Day 6: Aguas Calientes - Cusco
Today is free for you to explore the area in your own time, there are optional excursions at this point, if you are interested- just let us know. Later this afternoon, transfer to the train station for the train back to Cusco.
Day 7: Cusco
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the exciting city of Cusco and the surrounding archaeological sites. This includes visits to the Koricancha Temple, the main square, the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the amphitheatre of Kenko, Tambomachy, Puca Pucara and Koricancha Temple. Finally, you will stop by the Inka’s Expression art workshop, which introduces you to artists working with silver, paint and wood; the perfect visit to further understand Andean art.
Day 8: Cusco - Puno
This morning, take a bus to the city of to Puno, on the way stopping at various sites of interest. First stop is Andahuaylillas - a small colonial town with a superb church know as the 'Sistine Chapel of the Andes!' This is followed by a visit to the complex of Raqchi. Continue on to the archaeological site of Puca-Pucara and you will finally arrive in Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca.
Day 9: Puno
In the morning, make a one-day tour to Lake Titicaca. Your first stopis a visit to the floating islands of the Uros, also known as 'People of the Lake'. These impressive islands are built out of layers of totora reed and are used as housing and trade centers for the native Uros. They travel on handicrafted rafts made out of the same reeds also! Continue to Taquile Island, where you will be greeted by the local community who are known for their traditions, customs and colourful clothing. The islanders are skilled craftspeople and express in each piece astonishing techniques developed by their ancestors for centuries.
Day 10: Departure
Travel to the airport for your internal flight back to Lima for your onward travel. Adios!

Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
