Head over the border into Argentina and to Salta. A very different but equally unique landscape, the route you will take through the hills and arid lands of Salta is someting to behold! Nature is at the forefront of this tour - make your way past rocks and formations that seem to defy the laws of nature!

Heading down to Mendoza you will see a change again - picturesque vineyards and stunning mountain ranges, Mendoza is the heart of wine country! Enjoy a laid back vibe and a glass or two as you meander through the hazy countryside of this lovely area.

End your experience in the colourful capital of Argentina - Buenos Aires. Home to Tango, wine, steak and good times, enjoy everything this fun-filled city has to offer!

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival - Santiago de Chile
On arrival in Santiago, you will be met and taken to your hotel for the evening. After some time to freshen up, embark on a sightseeing tour of the main attractions of the city, where you can see the contrast of its rich history and its modern and impressive buildings.

Day 2: Santiago de Chile
Depart from your Hotel for a visit of Viña del Mar, South America's sophisticated social summer resort located 85 mi. West of Santiago and also known as the "garden city" for its beautiful gardens, avenues filled with flowering trees and palms. Exciting and full of action is the daytime activities center along Valparaiso Avenue with its many open-air cafés, restaurants and shopping malls. Valparaíso, Chile's principal port will also be visited - one of the world’s most picturesque ports. Stop at a beach restaurant for lunch (lunch not included) before enjoying the rest of the day in the city in your own time.

Day 3: Santiago de Chile - San Pedro de Atacama
Regular transfer to Santiago de Chile airport in order to take flight to Calama. On arrival, transfer to San Pedro de Atacama - one of the most unique landscapes in the world! Enjoy the Moon Valley Tour this afternoon exploring a landscape that is said the resemble the surface of the moon!

Day 4: San Pedro de Atacama
Depart today on a full day tour to the Altiplanic Lagoons located 138 km of San Pedro de Atacama and at an altitude of 4,300 meters. Take the road to Toconao, this route goes straight into the plains with amazing views. En route you will be able to observe species of native trees in the area, on arrival in the village of Toconao, take a brief visit to the main square and the church, and see houses built in volcanic stone. Enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful contrast that occurs between the greenery of the Valley and the desert. Ascend to reach the Miñique and Miscanti lagoons - with intense blue and white shores, surrounded by imposing hills and volcanoes. Next visit the Salar de Atacama and witness wild flamingos before heading back to your hotel!

Day 5: San Pedro de Atacama – Salta
Transfer to the bus station for a beautifully scenic bus ride to Salta. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: Salta
The journey starts from Salta city to the south, through route 68 traversing the Lerma Valley and its historical towns. You will reach Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shell´s Gorge), where wind and water erosion has carved curious shapes on the rocks (The Amphitheater, Devil´s throat, The Toad, The Castles, among others). When you arrive to Cafayate, visit some wineries, famous for their production of Torrontes, with special characteristics due to the particularities of the climate and land. After lunch, return to Salta through the Quebrada de las Conchas (the Shells´ Gorge) and the Lerma Valley.

Day 7: Salta
The journey leaves from Salta, but really begins once arrived to Purmamarca Village where you can observe the Seven Colored Hill, the Church and the Craft Market on the square, and a small walk along its narrow streets. Continue towards the town of Tilcara and visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the Archaeological Museum, and Huacalera, and then you cross the Capricorn Tropic, from where the colours of La Pollera de la Coya Hill can be seen and excellent photos can be taken! Arrive to Humahuaca around noon - this town has an important Church and Independence Monument. After lunch, observe the amazing La Paleta del Pintor (Painter’s Palette) framing the town of Maimara. Continue to San Salvador de Jujuy and finally, return to Salta through National Route N° 9 of abundant subtropical vegetation.

Day 8: Salta - Mendoza
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Mendoza, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 9: Mendoza
Enjoy the 'Malbec Experience' wine tour: depart to the south of Mendoza among stunning vineyards and trellises heading for the first fine wine producing area of the country, Lujan de Cuyo. In this area visit two wineries (one industrial and artisanal), where you learn the secrets of winemaking and the art for a good tasting accompanied by a delicious gourmet lunch!

Day 10: Mendoza
You have the day free to explore the laid-back city of Mendoza in your own time!

Day 11: Mendoza – Buenos Aires
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires. On arrival you will be met and taken to your hotel. After some time to freshen up, embark on an afternoon sightseeing tour of the bustling city of Buenos Aires (around 3 hours duration). You will see a multitude of historical monuments, colonial architecture and atmospheric neighbourhoods.

Day 12: Buenos Aires
You have the whole day at leisure to embrace yourself in the electric atmosphere of Buenos Aires. There are a number of optional activities you can do today for example visiting the Tigre Delta River or attending a unique dining experience! Get in touch for more details.

Day 13: Buenos Aires
Again you have the day to immerse yourself in the Buenos Aires lifestyle with a number of activities and suggestions available. Make the most of your last day in Argentina!

Day 14: Departure
Transfer to the airport and bid adiós to Argentina!

    International Flights
    Getting to Argentina is straightforward from most areas of the world, but you may find that the choice is bewildering, or you’re not sure about the easiest route. Tango Tours are experienced in planning flights and we are very happy to advise you on the different choices available. Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    Internal Flights
    As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    Payments
    To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.

    Accommodation
    Let us know what standard of accommodation you require for your tour - we offer a range of standards to suit your requirements. These are subject to availability.
