Chile by Land and Sea
OverviewThis exciting tour of some natural wonders of Chile begins in the exciting capital Santiago, where you can see the sights of the city on a half-day panoramic tour, stopping at all the main attractions. From here you travel to Puerto Natales, where you can see the amazing Torres del Paine National Park and the incredibly impressive Cave of the Mylodon.
Travelling on to Punta Arenas you will board a cruise ship to begin your adventure by sea! Travelling around one of the most remote parts of the planet you will have the opportunity to see an abundance of wildlife, such as Southern Elephant Seals, leopard seals, Magellan Penguins, cormorants and other birds.
This is a unique and magical way to see this fantastic landscape with opportunities to walk ashore to see impressive glacial forms, fjords and glacial waterfalls this place is like nowhere else on earth!
After the cruise (lasting around 4 days) You will fly back to Santiago for your onward flight.
Day 1: Santiago
Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to you hotel for the evening.
Day 2: Santiago
After breakfast you will embark upon a half-day, panoramic city tour of Santiago’s main attractions, rich history and modern, impressive buildings in the afternoon. La Moneda presidential palace, Plaza de Armas main square, Santa Lucía Hill, the Metropolitan Park, and the affluent residential districts of Vitacura and Las Condes are part of this unforgettable tour.
Day 3: Santiago - Punta Arenas - Puerto Natales
Breakfast at your hotel and then transfer to the airport to board a flight to Punta Arenas. On Arrival in Punta Arenas you will travel to Puerto Natales, where you will stay in a hotel for the evening.
Day 4: Puerto Natales
This morning you will depart for a full-day visit to the beautiful Torres del Paine National Park and the incredibly impressive Cave of the Mylodon.
Day 5: Puerto Natales - Punta Arenas
Today you will travel south to Punta Arenas where you will stay for the evening.
Day 6: Punta Arenas - Australis Cruise
After breakfast, you will board the Australis cruise ship. After a welcoming cocktail reception hosted by the Captain and his crew, the ship will depart for one of the most remote parts of the planet. Our trip will take us through the Strait of Magellan and the Fuegian-Patagonian channels to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world: Southern Patagonia, which includes the Tierra del Fuego archipelago.
Day 7: Crucero Australis
Breakfast on board. At dawn, we will be sailing to Brookes Fjord. The area is a natural amphitheatre shaped by glaciers and is truly spectacular.
You will take a short walk towards one of the glaciers, before navigating through Almirantazgo Sound, arriving at Ainsworth Bay which is sited within Alberto De Agostini National Park.
It’s the perfect spot from which to see the Marinelli Glacier, you then take a walk to the beaver dam in the stunning sub-polar Magellan Forest. There’s a good chance of sighting Southern Elephant Seals.
Day 8: Crucero Australis
Early in the morning you will reach Almirantazgo Bay. Where you can take a walk from the mouth of a river reaching a glacial waterfall.
You then take a ride on the Zodiac boats in order to observe elephant seals, cormorants and other birds while we go back to our cruise ship.
In the afternoon you will navigate Parry Fjord and onboard Zodiac boats, we will motor to the far end of the fjord to see an amphitheatre of glaciers and possibly leopard seals.
Day 9: Crucero Australis - Punta Arenas – Santiago
In the morning, weather permitting, we will go ashore on Magdalena Island, located in the middle of the Strait of Magellan and inhabited by an immense colony of Magellan Penguins.
In the afternoon, flight to Santiago.
Day 10: Departure
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to airport for your onward flight.

Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.
To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
