Classic Bolivia


This amazing complete tour of Bolivia begins in Santa Cruz where you depart for San Javier, stopping to see an ancient church before carrying onto Concepcion - getting the opportunity to look around the sights before returning to Santa Cruz for an onward journey to the capital Sucre!

You will spend some time in Sucre visiting some amazing sights and monuments in a mixture of colonial and modern styles.

From Sucre the tour takes you onto Potosi - famous for its production if silver. You will see some fascinating sights here and learn all about the deep history of the town.

Uyuni salt flats are your next stop! A real highlight of the trip these world famous flats have to be seen to be believed. The largest of its kind in the world, this incredible creation of nature is truly stunning as the surreal pentagons of crystalline salt contrast with the pure sky, it is a very special place.

It's then time to go onto La Paz. Here you take part in a full city tour of this fun and exciting city, including the Moon Valley, before travelling to the amazing Lake Titicaca. Whilst at the Lake you explore it in all its glory through a visit to an eco -village, star gazing, a hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island and Sun Island and plenty of time spent on Sun Island, including a stay in a luxury hotel here for the night!

With one last day to explore La Paz it's time to bid farewell to beautiful Bolivia!


Day 1: Arrival -Santa Cruz
Arrival in Santa Cruz, where you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. You then have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Santa Cruz - Concepcion
Breakfast at the hotel, then leave from Santa Cruz travelling to San Javier. On route you will pass the villages Cotoca, Pailas, Pailón and Los Troncos. On arrival in San Javier you’ll visit to the church before continuing on to Concepción and on route admire different formats of Granite Rocks in the middle of the palms and jungle. Arrival in Concepcion and you are shown to your hotel for the evening.

Day 3: Concepcion - Santa Cruz
This morning you will visit the church, the Missional Museum. Lunch in Concepcion and return to Santa Cruz with a short stop in San Javier.

Day 4: Santa Cruz - Sucre
From the hotel you will be taken to the airport for a short flight to the capital Sucre, where you will be shown to your hotel.

Sucre is an excellent mixture of both colonial and modern times. You will visit the Cathedral, churches and cloisters, the House of the Liberty, the Freedom Bell at San Francisco cloister and San Francisco Xavier, the Museum and View Point of La Recoleta, the “Museo Costrumbrista” and San Felipe Nery.

Day 5: Sucre - Potosi
After breakfast, you will travel from Sucre to Potosi- the famous Colonial City, and source of silver during colonial times. In an afternoon city tour of Potosi, you’ll visit Santa Teresa Museum and La Casa de la Moneda (Royal Mint).

Day 6: Potosi-Uyuni
In the morning you visit a mine, entering to see the underground world of the miners before travelling to Uyuni. On arrival to Uyuni transfer to your hotel in Colchani, on the shores of the Uyuni Salt Lake.

Day 7: Uyuni Salt Flat
Today you begin your salt flats adventure! The Uyuni Salt flat is the largest one on Earth. Visit Colchani, to see the local procedures of salt extraction, also the “Ojos de Agua” and the salt museum.

Day 8: Uyuni - La Paz - Huatajata
In the morning transfer from the hotel to the airport for the flight to La Paz. On arrival you will embark on a city tour of La Paz, seeing some sights of the city: the indigenous, colonial and modern areas, Indian Market, Witch Doctor's Market & breath-taking panoramas are all framed by the majestic "Illimani" mountain.

Visit the Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the Moon. In the afternoon, transfer to Huatajata located at the shores of the Titicaca Lake, and visit the "Andean Roots Eco Village", The Altiplano Museum, Handicrafts village, the Mud Igloos and the mortuary towers of the Urus Chipayas.

Wildlife such as elegant vicuñas, llamas, alpacas and the mythical Suri are possible to spot.

Tonight experience a night visit to "The Mystic World of the Kallawayas"- natural healers of Bolivia authorized by law to practice natural medicine!

Followed by a welcome drink and candlelit dinner at the Native Observatory Alajpacha. Learn all about the stars and watch the southern constellations.

Day 9: Huatajata - Sun island
This morning you will travel to Copacabana, located at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Once in Copacabana, visit the shrine and the Dark Virgin, before a hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island and Sun Island.

Enjoy a llama trek to the hotel on Sun Island, where you will be given lunch upon arrival.

The afternoon is at leisure to explore the surroundings.

Day 10: Sun Island - La Paz
Today, after a relaxing morning, you will visit the Inca ‘Grand Stairs’ and the Sacred Fountain. Taste the water believed to give eternal youth and happiness!

Lunch at the Uma Kollu archaeological restaurant with time to visit the small handicraft market. Then an amazing hydrofoil cruise or motor boat back to Copacabana and overland journey back to your hotel in La Paz.

Day 11: La Paz
After breakfast you have the day at leisure to explore the area or take part in an optional tour to the archaeological site of Tiwanaku.

Day 12: Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to Bolivia as you transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

    International Flights
    Getting to Bolivia is straightforward from most areas of the world, but you may find that the choice is bewildering, or you’re not sure about the easiest route. Tango Tours are experienced in planning flights and we are very happy to advise you on the different choices available. Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    Internal Flights
    As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
