Please note: This itinerary is just a guide. If you wish to extend your trip to Rio or visit anywhere that is not mentioned, then just let us know! If you wish to visit Rio at a specific time i.e for Carnival then we can do that too! Alternatively, this tour can be used as part of a larger tour to Brazil or as an extension onto one of our other Latin American tours. One of the most famous landmarks of the city, Christ the Redeemer, is naturally your first stop on this complete tour of Rio! Enjoy incredible views of the city by taking a train and elevators up Corcovado Hill to the statue itself. Next, travel by glass cable car up to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. One for the bucket-list, Sugar Loaf offers incredible views of the entire bay, surrounding islands, Corcovado Mountain and downtown Rio.

The next day an open top jeep ride allows you to see Santa Teresa - a traditional Rio neighborhood, the views at Dona Marta belvedere and the amazing Tijuca Forest. Take a walk up to the Cascatinha Falls for a great end to the day.

A relaxing, luxury cruise takes you around a picturesque archipelago of more than 300 islands and the town of Angra, to enjoy beautiful bays and beaches before you visit downtown Rio, the old heart of the city, to see some amazing sights and buildings as well as a look at what Niteroi, Rio's neighboring city, has to offer.

With a chance to experience the famous nightlife of Rio by seeing a performance of Brazilian Samba and folklore, a real taste of carnival, you won't want to leave this vibrant and colourful city!


Day 1: Arrival - Rio De Janerio
Today you arrive in the electric city of Rio De Janerio where you will be met and shown to your hotel in the city. You then have the rest of the day to relax and explore the area.

Day 2: Rio De Janerio - Corcovado & Sugar Loaf
Depart from the hotel after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks of the city and see the natural beauty of Rio de Janeiro from up above. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon you will arrive at the bottom of the Corcovado Hill. Embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located 2,300 ft above sea level. The Christ statue, known as the “wonder of Rio”, was recently elected one of the 7 "New Wonders of the World". Upon arrival at the top, you can use the panoramic elevators or escalators to arrive at the foot of the statute. There, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is called the "Marvelous City". Afterwards, descend the mountain and stop for a delicious Brazilian Barbecue lunch.

Next visit the world famous ‘Pão de Açúcar’, (Sugar Loaf Mountain), which has become an iconic symbol of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Rising up from a small peninsula at the entrance of Guanabara Bay, its name is said to refer to its resemblance to the traditional shape of a concentrated, refined sugar loaf. The journey to the top is made in glass cable-cars. The first cable-car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, which rises 215 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the entire bay and its surrounding islands. From Urca Hill, you continue in a second cable-car to the top of Sugar Loaf which rises 395 meters above sea level and offers a 360 degree view of the entire city including Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches, Corcovado Mountain and downtown Rio de Janeiro - an amazing experience.

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro - Jeep Tour Corcovado Tijuca Forest Santa Teresa
This morning, you will be collected from your hotel in an open-top jeep, then embark upon a panoramic tour in Santa Teresa - a traditional neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro home to local artists and intellects.

You will also stop at the Dona Marta belvedere so you can admire the amazing views.

The tour continues up Paineiras road until the Tijuca Forest, an area of preserved Atlantic Rainforest that's only 10 minutes from the city center of Rio de Janeiro, thus making it one of the largest urban forest areas in the world. You can go for a short stroll on a trail up to the Cascatinha Falls before returning to your hotel through Canoas Road and Pepino beach.

Day 4: Rio By Night
Today you have the day free to explore the city, or if you would like us to book some activities then let us know!

This evening you will be picked up from your hotel for dinner at a Barbecue Restaurant. After dinner you will head to the most famous samba theatre in Rio to enjoy an unforgettable performance of Brazilian Samba and folklore. This show gives you a taste of the magical world of Brazilian Carnival! Wrapped in bright colors and the sounds of exotic percussion instruments, this is a real experience!

Day 5: Full day adventure to the Islands of Angra dos Reis
A guided cruise with lunch and transfers.

With an archipelago of more than 300 islands and countless beaches, the town of Angra lies in the heart of this paradise, some 130 km south of Rio. A spectacular view with winds over mountainous terrain, and covered in lush Atlantic rain forest. Graceful coves and sandy beaches, little islands and crystal clear waters are a paradise!

The town of Angra dos Reis has been continuously settled since the early 1500’s. There are many lovely old buildings from the colonial past when the town was a great port and agricultural center.

Day 6: 'Cultural Rio' tour
Today, you will leave Copacabana to visit downtown Rio, the old heart of the city - where a large number of the city’s national landmarks, museums, parks, shops and restaurants are located.

Then cross the Guanabara Bay on "balsas", the ferries used every day by thousands of cariocas. The trip lasts just twenty minutes and provides an unrivaled opportunity to enjoy some of Rio's greatest views from afar, including the bridge between Rio and Niteroi, the downtown skyline, and Santos Dumont Airport. On the other side of your journey lies Niteroi, Rio's neighboring city filled with many sights. Here your guide will show you the best this incredibly interesting city has to offer. Back to Rio, the tour will continue by Metro towards Maracanã for a brief walk around (outside) one of the most famous stadiums in the world and return to Copacabana.

Day 7: Departure
Free morning to relax before a private transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

    International Flights
    Getting to Brazil is straightforward from most areas of the world, but you may find that the choice is bewildering, or you’re not sure about the easiest route. Tango Tours are experienced in planning flights and we are very happy to advise you on the different choices available. Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    Internal Flights
    As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
