Mayan magic is in the air! Whilst on this whirlwind trip of a lifetime, discover some incredible and fascinating archaeological sites such as the Templo Mayor, Teotihuacán, Palenque, Uxmal and the iconic Chichén Itzá.
Enjoy some beautiful landscapes such as Agua Azul (Blue Water) waterfalls and take a boat ride through the Cañón del Sumidero.
And after all your exploring, enjoy some well-deserved luxury and time together on the beaches of Riviera Maya at an all-inclusive resort. Take part in some optional water sports or just relax on the golden sands with a cocktail!
Day 1: Arrival - Mexico City
Today you arrive in magical Mexico City! Your guide will be waiting for you in the airport and you will be taken to your hotel in the centre of the city. The rest of the day is yours to explore the exciting capital.
Day 2: Mexico City
After breakfast in your hotel, embark upon on full City Tour of Mexico City which includes: Plaza de la Constitución, followed by The Palacio Nacional (National Palace) - the headquarters of the Presidency of Mexico, Templo Mayor, the great temple of the Aztec capital and a brief stop at the Guadalupe Shrine. The tour continues to Teotihuacán, named by the Aztecs as “the place where the Gods are born”. This famous location has three great constructions: The Pyramid of the Sun, Pyramid of the Moon and the Citadel. After lunch in the City you have the rest of the day and evening to explore further!
Day 3: Mexico City - Tuxtla Gutierrez - San Cristóbal de las Casas
Transfer to the airport this morning for your flight to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, capital of the State of Chiapas. You will then be transferred to the Cahuaré Wharf to enjoy a relaxing boat trip through the Cañón del Sumidero (Sumidero Canyon), the altitude and the beauty of this place is an incredible experience. The tour then continues to San Cristóbal de las Casas, where you will be shown to your hotel for the evening.
Day 4: San Cristóbal de las Casas
In the morning visit a typically Mexican market, where hundreds of local people sell their hand-made products every day. You will have some time to peruse the handicrafts and chat with the local people. The tour continues to the beautiful Baroque Santo Domingo Church, founded in 1547. You will then have a chance to meet the Indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán; the San Juan Chamula community is particularly linked to this church where ceremonies were celebrated that had a great influence of paganism. Return to San Cristóbal for some local cuisine and to relax for the evening.
Day 5: San Cristóbal de las Casas - Plenque
This morning you will depart for Palenque, stopping along the way at the Agua Azul (Blue Water) waterfalls. The trip will last approximately 5 hours on a mountain road, where you can enjoy the abundant vegetation of this Chiapanecan area and stopping for lunch in a rustic restaurant. On arrival in Palenque, you will be shown to your hotel and have the rest of the evening to relax.
Day 6: Plenque - Campeche
Today begins with a visit to the amazing Palenque archaeological site. This area displays beautiful Mayan work made in stone and stucco and is frequently recognized as one of Mexico’s most beautiful places due to its ruins enclosed in the Chiapanecan jungle. You will visit its most important temple- Templo de las Inscripciones (Temple of the Inscriptions) before lunch. In the afternoon the tour will move on to Campeche where you will visit the ancient town, surrounded by fort walls and towers built to protect it from pirates! After visiting the city, you'll be taken to your hotel for the evening.
Day 7: Campeche - Uxmal – Mérida
After breakfast you will begin travelling to Mérida. On the way, the tour stops at the famous Uxmal archaeological site. After lunch in restaurant at Uxmal, the tour continues heading to Mérida, also known as the “White City”. You’ll stop at Mérida’s Zócalo, to admire the city’s main monuments: the Cathedral, the Government’s Palace, the Municipal Palace and the Francisco Montejo’s House, before checking in at your hotel.
Day 8: Mérida - Chichen Itzà - Riviera Maya
Depart from your hotel this morning for a visit to the world famous Chichén Itzá archaeological site where you can admire the impressive buildings of the northern and central sites, such as: the Kukulcán Temple, the Ball Game, the Observatory, the Warrior’s Temple, the Convent of the Nuns and the Sacred Cenote before lunch at Chichén Itzá in restaurant. The tour then continues on to Riviera Maya where you spend the night in a luxury hotel near the beach. A far cry from the huge tourist resorts in Cancún - Riveria Maya is much quieter, intimate and relaxed.
Day 9-10: Riviera Maya
Spend the next two days at your luxury resort in Riviera Maya where you can enjoy a number of optional water sport activities or just relax on the white sands with your love and a cocktail!
Day 10: Departure
We know you will not want to, but it's time to say Adíos to Mexico as you transfer to Cancún airport for your onward flight.

Some itineraries require that you arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date. Therefore, it is vital that you book the right flights and times of arrival. To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a 20% deposit for the ground-based arrangements. (This excludes flight prices, as these a payable in full on the point of booking.) The balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure.
Sometimes the accommodation stated in the itinerary may be subject to change. This is because the suggested hotels cannot be confirmed until booking is made and availability is checked. If any hotel is unavailable, a similar hotel will be offered instead. You can be assured that we will always strive to provide the best accommodation to suit your budget.
