OverviewYour adventure begins with a quick stop in Mexico City before heading North onto Queretaro and San Miguel de Allende. This is the beginning of your exploration of some of the lesser-visited towns and cities of Mexico. Most routes in Mexico head South of Mexico City and onto Cancun, but heading North and to the High Plateaux is a real treat!
As you travel around from place to place you will be making your way from the High Plateaux all the way to the stunning Pacific coastline! Enjoy the stunning architecture of these beautiful and fascinating areas and immerse yourself in the local culture, customs and some of the best cuisine in the world!
A highlight is a visit to Guadalajara and the famous 'Tequila' region where you can learn all about this ancient beverage that has gained such world-wide acclaim! Learn about the process of making it at one of the best distilleries in the area, and of course there will be a tasting!
Round off your trip with some time to relax and enjoy the stunning Pacific Coast in Puerto Vallarta (a pleasant alternative to the more popular resorts of Cancun and the surrounding areas). You can do watersports here, take a day trip or just relax on the golden sands!

This is an international group tour. On arrival, you will meet up with the rest of your group who are travellers from all over the world! This is a great way to meet new people from different cultures and enjoy your experiences with a group of like-minded individuals! If you would prefer to do this tour privately with just you and your group then get in touch!
Day 1: Arrival - Mexico City
Today you arrive in magical Mexico City! You will be collected from the airport and taken to your hotel in the city. The rest of the day is yours to explore in your own time.
Day 2: Mexico City - Queretaro - San Miguel de Allende
This morning depart to Queretaro - 211km from Mexico City. Capital of the state of Queretaro and a sight of major importance during the Independence war, take a tour of the city. After some time in Queretaro take a 1 hour drive to San Miguel de Allende. Explore this amazing colonial city with its beautiful mansions and symbolic Gothic style cathedral.
Day 3: San Miguel de Allende - Guanajuato
Morning departure to Dolores Hidalgo and proceed to Guanajuato - an hours drive away. Visit the city and admire its many amazing sites; the Basilica, the University, the picturesque, historic centre with its narrow colonial roads, the underground streets (former riverbeds), the famous Callejón del Beso (The Alley of the Kiss) and enjoy a panoramic view from the El Pipila monument.
Day 4: Guanajuato - Zacatecas
Depart today for Zacatecas. On arrival, visit of the historical centre of the city and the Cathedral - one of the pearls of Mexican baroque architecture, built in rose stone during the XVIII century. Visit the Plaza de Las Armas, the Cerro de la Bufa hill offering a fantastic panoramic view of the city, and the Mine of Edén.
Day 5: Zacatecas - Guadalajara
In the morning enjoy a scenic 4 hour drive to Guadalajara, named for its beauty “The Pearl of the Occident”. On arrival, visit the picturesque historical center: the Teatro Degollado, the Palacio de Gobierno and the Cathedral before heading to your accommodation for the evening to relax.
Day 6: Guadalajara
This morning head to the “Tequila” region, home to the ancient and famous Mexican alcoholic drink! At the Tequila village enjoy a demonstration of the whole manufacturing process in one of the best Tequila distilleries in the area.
Day 7: Guadalajara - Puerto Vallarta
Transfer to the bus station this morning for your bus to Puerto Vallarta on a deluxe coach. Puerto Vallarta is famous for its stunning beaches, crystal clear waters, water sports and excellent nightlife! On arrival transfer to your hotel and enjoy the evening exploring the area and making the most of the stunning setting.
Day 8: Puerto Vallarta
You have the whole day free to explore the area, go on a day trip, take part in some water sports, or just relax on the beach with a cocktail!
Day 9: Departure
Transfer to Puerto Vallarta International Airport and bid farewell to Mexico!

Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your trip. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation and is non-refundable.
To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights booked with us. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
