Family Holiday in Peru


Begin your adventure in the exciting capital city Lima where you will explore some major sites of this amazing city both on foot and by bike! After a days cycling, enjoy a well-deserved dinner and traditional show.

Next head to the unique city of Cusco where you visit some incredibly interesting and beautiful sites as well as learn how to make pizza! For the next few days, you head into the mysterious Sacred Valley where activities are plenty and exploration endless! There are so many opportunities here to discover new things and take part in fun- filled activities that will make this the best holiday ever!

Visit a local community and observe their very traditional way of life, before heading by train to one of the most famous sites in the world: The majestic Machu Picchu! A guided tour as well as some time to explore by yourselves will give you plenty of opportunity to enjoy this fantastic place before heading back to Cusco.

Delve deeper into the city of Cusco and explore some amazing highlights of the city, before stopping at a chocolate factory to learn all about everyone's favourite treat! A short flight takes you to an area not frequented by most tourists, but a treat for any visitor: Chiclayo. Stay in this beautiful region for two nights and follow the trail of the infamous Paddington Bear!

Day 1: Arrival - Lima
Today you arrive in Lima! Your Peruvian tour begins with a trip to downtown Lima, also known as the “City of the Kings” and an UNESCO World Heritage site. The Main Square is an awe-inspiring sight with incredible buildings lining it. Afterwards, you take a short walk to the 16th century Santo Domingo Convent. Next on the agenda are the city’s modern sectors: the exclusive district and financial center of San Isidro and Miraflores, with some time spent at the “Parque del Amor” with a lovely view of the Pacific Ocean. The last stop is the Larco Museum, a private collection of more than 3000 years of Pre-Columbian history. Children will receive an activity book on Peru to take back home and remember what they learn while traveling!

Day 2: Family bike tour & dinner with folkloric show
You will enjoy a bicycle ride around the two main cultural areas of Lima: Miraflores and Barranco. It is the perfect combination of art, history, architecture, and family recreation that ends with a snack in a traditional bar or café. Dinner that evening includes the best Peruvian food plus a wonderful show of folk music and dancing.

Day 3: Lima - Cusco
Today take a short internal flight to Cusco for your Cusco tour. Upon arrival, you will be driven to the Sol y Luna Hotel in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you will learn how to make great homemade pizza! For your night’s entertainment, there is the play, “Andean Gods”, about the religions, rites, legends, and traditions of the Andes. Stay overnight in the mysterious Sacred Valley.

Day 4: Lagoon of Piuray
Today, you will visit Lake Piuray, a beautiful place in the middle of the Andes mountains, where you can engage in yoga, kayaking, or stand up paddle boarding. Lunch will be either a nice family picnic or a traditional pachamanca. Stay again tonight in the Sacred Valley.

Day 5: Visit to the Community of Misminay
Your excursion today begins in the community of Misminay, elevation 3700 meters, in the Urubamba Valley, where 200 families still preserve the traditional Andean way of living. You can participate in an offering to the earth (a rite that honors mother earth) and enjoy a traditional lunch made by the women from ingredients they organically grow in their fields. In addition, you will see them spin and dye wool using natural colors as well as weave fabric following their ancient techniques. Later that night, enjoy a pizza party in which the young ones will be able to make their own!

Day 6: Machu Picchu - Cusco
Today you are going to visit one of the most important centers of the world: Machu Picchu. Travel by train to the town of Aguas Calientes, en route you will see the striking scenery of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After you arrive, take a bus to the Machu Picchu archaeological site and take a tour of its every nook and cranny in the company of a professional guide who will tell you the history that envelopes this mysterious and enchanting place! A unforgettable experience. Once the guided tour is over, you and your family will have some free time to explore the site on your own, to relax and explore some more. Descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch and, afterwards, board the train for the return trip to Cusco.

Day 7: Cusco city tour and Chocomuseo (Chocolate Museum)
Your day begins with a tour of the so-called 'Imperial City', in the historic district of Cusco, another UNESCO World Heritage site. Begin at the Koricancha Temple, an old Incan palace and main center for the worship of the sun god, Inti. Your next destination is the Main Square where you can see the Cathedral, the beautiful Church of La Compañia de Jesus (Society of Christ), and other Colonial period buildings. The adventure continues to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, built of enormous stone blocks expertly shaped by the Incas. It is strategically located at the top of a hill overlooking the city of Cusco. What a view of the city! The treat of the day is a stopover at the Chocomuseo, to learn everything about the fine chocolate produced in the Cusco region. Kids will have a lot of fun while making their own chocolate, an excellent family experience in Cusco!

Day 8: Lima - Chiclayo
Return to Lima and then hop onto another flight to Chiclayo, where you will visit the famous Lord of Sipan Museum in Lambayeque.

Day 9: Natural Reserve of Chaparri (Optional)
Today, follow the trail of Paddington Bear! The orphaned, spectacled bear from Peru. Enjoy this family trip to the Chaparri Ecological Reserve, located in northern Peru, and habitat of Paddington’s relatives!

Day 10: Departure
Today transfer to the airport for your onward travel.

    International Flights
    Getting to Argentina is straightforward from most areas of the world, but you may find that the choice is bewildering, or you’re not sure about the easiest route. Tango Tours are experienced in planning flights and we are very happy to advise you on the different choices available. Because prices tend to increase closer to your departure date, we advise that you buy your international flight tickets as soon as you have made a decision about your tour. As an ATOL bonded tour operator, we can assist in your purchase of international flights. In fact, your entire tour can be protected under our ATOL licence by booking your international flight with us. Please note that flight tickets are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    Internal Flights
    As with international flights, Tango Tours' friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to book your internal flights for you if required. For some itineraries, you need to arrive at a particular destination at a required time/date therefore, it is vital that you book the correct flights and times of arrival. Our ATOL licence will protect your whole tour if your internal flights are purchased through us. Please note that flights are non-refundable and 100% of your flight ticket price is payable on tour confirmation.

    To confirm your booking with Tango Tours, we require a payment of 20% of the ground-based arrangements and 100% of all flights. The remaining balance of your tour is then payable 10 weeks prior to departure. For any bookings made within these 10 weeks, the full amount is payable.
